Rescue
at 2040 Store Street January 6, 2009
At just after 3:00pm on January 7, 2009, Victoria Fire dispatch
received a call from Victoria Police regarding an industrial accident
that had occurred at 2040 Store Street. The worker had been on
a platform, approximately forty feet in the air, dismantling equipment
when the piece being lifted by a crane shifted, knocking the worker
down. Victoria responded, dispatching three engines, two ladders,
one rescue, one command vehicle, and the technical high angle
rescue trailer. Crews arrived on scene within four minutes and
found the patient conscious and talking, but he had sustained
some injuries. The high angle rescue team 'packaged' the patient,
and removed him from the platform with the assistance of the ladder
truck. Once down, the patient was transferred to the waiting BC
Ambulance crew and transported to hospital to be treated for his
injuries.
