Fire - 27 Erie Street

Victoria Fire Dispatch received calls at 11:13pm on March 11, 2008 reporting a fire at 27 Erie Street. The caller stated that he could see smoke and flames coming from the fish packing plant at that location. Victoria Fire responded with all apparatus, consisting of 3 Engines, 2 Ladder Trucks, 1 Rescue, and the Command vehicle.

Arriving crews found heavy smoke in the area, and one of the structures was fully engulfed in flames. Fire Fighters attacked the blaze from both Erie Street, and Ontario Street, knocking the majority of the flames down in just over an hour. One structure was lost, and there was some fire damage to a second building and a company vehicle located on the property.

An extra crew was also called in, and they stood by on fire watch to ensure there were no more flare ups after initial crews cleared. There were no injuries at this incident, and damage is estimated at approximately $250,000.

Fire Fighters Brad Fair and Lance Mitchell use hose linesto attack the
fire from Erie Street.
