January 17th, 2011 at 09:48 Victoria Fire responded to a condo fire
on the fourth floor of 1149 Rockland. Fire quickly spread from the
fourth floor pipe chase down to the first floor, in the process
spreading through the walls and drywall. Mutual aid was requested,
and Oak Bay and Saanich fire departments assisted with an engine
and Batallion chief.
A total
of 36 fire fighters extinguished this fire, along with three off
duty engine companies that were called in.
This
was a particularly challenging fire due to the amount of walls
and drywall that needed to be torn down to access the actual fire.
